Volunteering to help the Band Boosters

Wonder how you can help the Martin County Band Boosters? Take a look at the committees and see where you would like to pitch in and help.

Membership – Jan Meade

Show your support of the MCHS band by purchasing a Band Booster membership.  For just $20 per year you are supporting your child and our amazing band program.  When you sign up you will receive a token thank-you gift.  In addition, membership will also have available for purchase: shirts with/without sleeves $15 caps and visors $10, and license plates $10.  Please note that all band chaperones are required to wear the band shirt.  Stop by our table and get ready for band season.

Blast Off & Banquet – Malissa Werder & Dave Kastrup

Many of you have already signed up or have already helped feed the Tiger Regiment during Blast Off – Thank You!  Hopefully you will agree how easy it is to help support the band and will assist us again for the End of the Year Banquet, and a new spring social event – BBQ or spaghetti dinner – to be held in the spring. Malissa Werder makes feeding a crowd look easy so sign up to lend a hand.

Publicity Committee – Sharon Mason

This committee is responsible for contacting the local media, sending event dates, submitting press releases and providing photos.  The committee will also design posters and mailings geared to the senior residential communities in the area, and provide posters to be displayed in local businesses.  Finally, the committee will be exploring new ways of reaching the public, via social media and other methods.

Anyone interested in writing, copying and preparing mailings, designing and distributing posters, calling contacts, and investigating new ways to get the word out is welcome to join this committee.

Concession –Malissa Werder /Chris & Dave Kastrup

The band parents man the concession stand at all home Varsity and Junior Varsity Football games.  Starting early in the afternoon on game day for set up, cooking, serving, cashiering, and clean up, band parents do it all with a smile.  Please check  your schedule to see what Thursday or Friday home game nights you have available.  Remember, there is no entrance fee when you are signed up for the concession!

Chaperones–Bonnie Key

All Tiger Regiment parents are urged to sign up for chaperoning during parades, competitions, assessments, and the Varsity Football games when the band will be performing.   Parents are needed to help with uniforms, transport equipment and music, and distribute water to students.  Besides having the best seat in the stadium, you will get into the games for free!

Fundraising – Regina Lukens/

Christmas Trees –Chris Kastrup

The Band Boosters make a financial commitment each year to support the band and keep band activity fees low.  To meet this financial goal, there are many fundraising events planned that require your support and assistance.  The biggest fundraiser is the Christmas Tree and Wreath Sale in the fall, but other projects are in the works.  The initial plans for the Christmas Tree and Wreath Sale are underway and help is needed now with advertising, promoting orders in October, and organizing pick-up day at the beginning of December.

Media – Sharon Mason

In order to compile a documentary CD/DVD which will be available for Christmas and the end of the year, these committee members will gather photos and video recordings of performances and rehearsals.  They will use some of the media to update the band website. Help is needed to cover all band events and activities.

Volunteers – Rose Schneider

This committee keeps track of volunteer hours from all Booster events, will document each family’s completion of required volunteer hours for the year and reports hours to the school.

Uniforms – Diane Selent

A few parents went in this year at uniform check out and check in times to help especially Concert Band, and sew buttons etc.  Would be better to have an appointed person to coordinate parents to come in and monitor sewing needs.  Not a difficult position – just need to be available during the day – student leaders are a big help especially in Symphonic Band.

Roadies–

Have you ever dreamed of being a roadie for a band? Now’s your chance! We need several people with large vehicles to transport and set up instruments and equipment for football games and concerts. Got a pickup truck or an SUV? We need your help.
